Sachsenring’s circuit is without a doubt one of the fastest of the MotoGP Calendar. This old fashioned circuit has numerous straights and high-speed corners, making it a must-see event for speed lovers. The first race was held on 26 may 1927 on a 5.4 miles (8.7 km) long circuit. The track was later reduced to 2.299 miles (3.7 km).
Dubbed “Sachsenring” in 1937, the track was the home to the East German Motorcycle Grand Prix from 1962 to 1971. Throughout recent years, the circuit has experienced a significant raise in terms of spectators, going from 142.000 in 1998 up to a roaring 224.668 in 2010. In a country where motorsports is almost a religion, be prepared to see loud and passionate crowds chanting and supporting their local riders.
