San Marino’s Misano Marco Simoncelli Circuit has been a venue of the MotoGP calendar since 2007. After hosting several MotoGP races till 1991, the circuit was extensively modified in 2006, shortened to 2.525 miles (4.064 km) and with renewed facilities. The circuit direction also went from anti-clockwise to clockwise.
Strongly appreciated by fans and riders, The MotoGP San Marino Grand Prix is undeniably a season-highlight. Moreover, the venue pays tribute to the former Italian Rider Marco Simoncelli who tragically died during the 2011 Malaysian MotoGP Grand Prix in Sepang. Fans of the late Italian racer often gather at the event.
